And now I am opening up another can of worms. :-)
There is no basis whatsoever in the New Testament for democracy in the
church. "One man, one vote" allows new believers and even so-called "carnal
Christians" who still do not have a thorough knowledge of God's Word and His
ways to decide the future of the congregation. Nor is a Papal One-man
hierarchy Biblical. We see a plurality of elders throughout the New
Testament.
And ,no: The sellection of deacons in Acts 6 was NOT a democratic sellection
of leadership. The apostles told the sheep to seek out men with speific
qualifications. Then they were brought before the apostles for approval.
That is not democracy. And futhermore, these were men sellected to SERVE
TABLES, not to govern the church.
Senior apostle Paul instructs junior apostles Timothy and Titus to raise up
elders in every city.
Be blessed!
