*Sunday – Read Matthew 26:1-16, Mark 14:1-11, Luke 22:1-6,
John 13:18-30*

	*Commentary*

	In Matthew 26:1-5, 26:14-16, Mark 14:1-2, Luke 22:1-6, John
13:18 the plot against Jesus
unfolds with Jesus announcing that it is Judas but the
apostles miss His intent, Satan
enters Judas, Judas goes to Caiaphas and the religious
leaders to finalize the plan, the
leaders are so delighted they arranged to give him money.
Note: Judas had a history of
betraying God by stealing from the collection for the poor,
thus he had opened a gateway
for Satan and was readily able to rationalize betraying
Jesus based on any number of
	pretexts.

In Matthew 26:6-13 and Mark 14:3-9 Jesus is anointed with
precious oil by Mary,
(previously identified by John in chapter 11 as the one
would later do so but not named
by Matthew or Mark). Here the disciples are corporately
identified as having challenged
her poor stewardship in “wasting” the oil when it could
have been sold and the money
given to the poor. [We previously read in John that Judas
was the speaker – and as one
with ill-motive, though it is possible that his naive
fellow Apostles initially agreed with
him. Jesus declares that her sacrifice was to prepare Him
for burial and that her action
would be retold in memory of her perceptiveness and her
faithful action.

*Discussion & Reflection - Keeping it Real*

Reflect upon those times and places in life where you may
have rationalized something
you thought of a a 'small sin' only to later find yourself
rationalizing things that you never
thought you would. How have you and God reconciled?

Ponder a situation where you, or someone you know, have
recognized God at work and
acted in partnership with Him in a profoundly faithful and
sacrificial way. How did God
bless that? Has the story been told as an encouragement
and a witness?

	*Truth in Action*

Today I will ask a fellow believer to pray in agreement
with me for discernment and
wisdom for the Holy Spirit to show me any place in my life
where I am rationalizing even
the smallest sin – and for the strength to repent and be
restored by God.

I will similarly pray to be shown where God is blessing
someone who is responding to
Him in a sacrificial manner, I will pray for them and I
will ask the Holy Spirit to show me
how to assist and/or encourage them.

	*Be Specific*
