I downloaded and installed Untangle a couple of weeks ago. My intention
was to see if it was any better than the Endian Firewall (now called
Endian Unified Threat Managment Device). Feature for feature, I don't
see any advantage - that is to say that they are both very
feature-rich. Untangle has a slicker UI and the policy manger is a neat
feature but at $250/month I need to pass. Endian hasn't released any
new versions lately and 2.3 has been a release candidate for quite a
while.
So I guess if I were choosing one having never used either, I'd probably
choose Untangle but being familiar with Endian (www.endian.com), I don't
feel it advantageous to switch.
