[Linux4christians] MagicPoint

Right now, I'm using a peecee running Slackware 12 and Wine and the free
MS PowerPoint viewer program to display song presentations for my
youth group. I'd rather go native Linux, so I'm playing with MagicPoint.

Anybody else use MagicPoint?

Specifically,
1. It says it will use TrueType fonts. However, even though I've got
Xft and some TTFs and it works (Abiword has no problems), MGP is clearly
not working. Most telling, when the program stops, I get a bunch of
error messages that "tfont" and "tmfont" are not supported in this
configuration. But I simply built MGP, and it clearly is linking in Xft.

(Although I had to tweak the Makefile to load the Xft library _before_
linking the object files to clear up unresolved symbols. The fact that
I had to do that makes me wonder just how mature the MGP build system is...)

2. I figured out background image, but it always tiles. Any tips how I
can specify scaling the image to the X display size?
