IPCop has an excellent reputation and allows nice plug-ins such as Dan's
Guardian:

I have used Smoothwall, another excellent firewall, available in free and
commercial versions:
http://smoothwall.org/
For Windoze machines it is always advisable to have program-based
permissions, i.e. a program must be authorized to connect to the outside
world. In this case ZoneAlarm's free version would be a good complement to
either of the firewalls listed above.
