Nigel,
Many years ago, when my wife was in public accounting, the firm that she worked for bought Acer boxes. They had a terrible time with them doing the tax software, for one there wasn't enough memory onboard, then other issues also. They were told by Acer that if they had loaded any software that did not come with the machine, that the warranty was/would be voided. I believe that they got rid of the machines after that incident, and got different ones. Maybe Acer has changed their policy in the last 16-17 years, but I've never bought one after that.
