What application do you use for the PHP calendar app?

Love the show – still trying to catch up with the later shows – the last one I listened to was #122 – Arch Linux.
I currently use Slackware and Debian (Elive actually – Debian Etch plus Enlightenment17 for eye-candy) and was wondering what distros you currently recommend for the intermediate.
I basically want to be able to use source compiled software (network emulators, simulators is my thing) but have a package management system underlying it all.
I know you did switch to Arch Linux – are you still using it – is it the “perfect” distro ?
