Comic Book Heaven
Things have been going great at home. The wife and I are doing great, the kids are doing great. Today I secured a pull box at Atomic Comics on Mercury Blvd. Wow, the place from the outside looks really cool. Paintings of Batman, Faust, Superman, Spiderman. There were blow-up Hulks on top of the store (celebrating World War Hulk of course).
Today was the first time I stepped through the door of that place although I have passed it well over a hundred times. The front door was more an entry way for a Firehouse bar than a comic book store. The windows, as stated were painted up or blocked by shelves so you could not see in. But when I stepped though the threshold I was in geek heaven. The place was like an attic, full of comics, games and geeky toys. This place was packed full.
I set about locating an employee, there were a bunch of roll players in the back. It was not too long that one of the owners introduced herself to me. Yes, a female ran the store; and a quite attractive one at that. She was very friendly and set me up with a pull box. She and her parents run two shops in the area. She’s a Marvel fan and we talked for a bit about what has been going on in the Marvel Universe post Civil War and during World War Hulk.
Needless to say I think I spent a bit more than I wanted to, but I have some catching up to do. Like I’ve said twice already, World War Hulk is in full swing and it’s awesome!
Well, I’m off to read some of my stash. Only a week until I head back!
