This is a simple screen that is not too tweaked out. Notice the dock on the
right-hand side of the screen. "Short-cut" application icons can be attatched
to the Dock (top-most icon) along with dock-apps. Dock-apps are programs that
sometimes run straight from the dock icon. For instance, notice Bubblemon at the
bottom of the dock. Bubblemon is a cute system resource indicator. The more
resources being used, the higher the water level.
In the upper, left-hand corner you can see a paperclip icon. The paperclip allows you to easily switch between virtual desktops. You can also dock appicons and dock-apps to the clip and have them travel with you, or stay on their originating screen. Notice I used to different names for icons. Icon and appicon. They basically refer to the same thing, but this is a subtle difference. In Window Maker, appicons are decorated icons that have been configured for individual applications and docked applications. If an application does not have an appicon assigned to it, it is given a rather garish, default icon that is not too pretty. |
