An article on windows media center

Man, what an infuriatingly myopic article.
Not even one mention of GBPVR, Let alone a Linux alternative.
Or have I missed the point of the article entirely?
Sheesh!

I read and listen to several articles and podcast that deal with media center pc (htpc) and all of them except mythtv cast promote windows media center. I use both and struggle with mythtv to get hdmi on my htpc. I have posted this issue elsewhere and am still using wmc because it works. I plan on buying a hdhomerun prime when they come out but what system I will install it on still is in the air. I see that so much is given to wmc this podcast (mythtvcast) is great but few and far inbetween. I know that live get busy myself included. But if you want attention get in front of me.

I fairly understood you up to this point:

But the last line has got me scratching my head. :?:
I'll give you that MCE is more popular but the htpc podcasts must have mentioned GBPVR at least a little.

Anyhow, back to the article. The fact that the author did not mention alternatives (that I can clearly find or recall) aggravates me with the assertion that the HTTPC is only the domain of Microsoft. This is strikingly absurd.

Furthermore he simply has glossed over the fact that the issue of DRM is what is preventing this segment from developing.
I also disagree that newer forms of DRM with the new schemes will resolve the issue.

As long as there is restriction on what when and where we obtain our media and where we wish to view it and there are proprietary methods for verification of the right to use (IE purchased or paid for with a monthly cable bill) we will never see HTTPC achieve their potential market penetration.

Please send me a message and perhaps I can help you troubleshoot your HDMI issues. I've got several little ion boxes working fine in this configuration running, yes, mythtv.

What I was trying to say is we are all busy and I appreciate what Dan and Pat do here on the mythtvcast but its goes a long time before we hear anything about mythtv. Then you can listen to entertainment 2.0 weekly and they run off about wmc also Ian Dixon weekly and several others. Unless I am missing some other great mythtv podcast this is it. I do subscribe to Patrick A on youtube and other linux videos but there just isn't enough media help for mythtv. I want mythtv to survive and it will but not like wmc.

Still, I'd like to help trouble shoot your HDMI issue.
