How are you viewing these in Linux. Every time I click on something from the bbc site it tells me I do not have quicktime installed.

For the BBC, I view the page source and copy the file URL into a terminal and download it with wget. It's a bit of a pain, but it works.

if you can download the clips, vlc as well as other programs will display them. Some web designers (or their benefactors) are tighter than others about letting you download the media.
